Costume Party

We went to a costume party before Halloween. The kids were dressed as Leonardo, a knight, and Rapunzel.

Bean bag toss
Each child had a donut on a string and was SUPPOSED to eat it sans hands. Needless to say, everyone cheated! It was a hard game though!

There was a TON of sugar at this party! So there was a lot of running...

 some crying...

and costume changes (thanks to Vanessa who brought over extra costumes from Vinny's birthday party!)

The kids had a wonderful time!

Things not pictured...

In the beginning of October we were outside playing baseball. I put my camera on the rail of the stairs so I wouldn't lose it. Jayden launched a ball that hit me right in the jaw. I came inside to ice it and forgot the camera. Of course it rained that night. So needless to say, I am currently camera-less. May lent me her camera when she wasn't using it, but there are several events I was unable to capture.

One event was Vinny's birthday party. Vinny is one of Jayden's favorite friends. He turned 5 and had an AWESOME costume party. The kids even got to take home costumes!

Recently we met a family who moved here from Florida. Larissa invited us to her son Tyler's birthday party. Tyler turned 7 and had an AWESOME party at Lazer Craze. Jayden played laser tag for the first time ever and did pretty damn good!

Here are some of the funny/interesting things the kids have said/done recently:

- Jayden: I wish daddy didn't have to go to work.
Me: I know but if daddy didn't work we wouldn't have money to do anything.
Jayden: Well women can work. You're not sick mom. Then you will get paid change so we will still have money.

-Caitlin was watching Dora and Dora said to say unicornio. Cait screamed, "Uni- coño! I SAID uni- COÑO!! Can't you hear me Dora?!"

-Caitlin: Mom can we kill a bear and stretch his skin to make a house like the nomads did?
Jayden: Caitlin! That was long ago, right after dinosaurs died. You know, like in 1987!

Proud homeschooling moments:

-when Jayden laid on my bed- before I even had coffee and my eyes were still crusted over with sleep- to discuss the theory of evolution.

- when Caitlin said: Mom, I want to write you a surprise message. How do you spell 'I love you'? and gave me this little gem!

Baseball is Over!

Baseball season is over. We missed the last game but Jayden’s coach is going to mail out his trophy. Jayden had a lot of fun playing with the bigger boys this season and has requested to continue baseball, so we will be signing him up in the Spring! Here are a couple of pictures of his last couple of games.

As you can see, she still loves flipping!

More flips!

Beach!

Last week we decided at the last minute to play hookie from baseball. Instead, we went to the beach. It was glorious! I love the cool air that hit us and that drowsy feeling we all got when we left the beach. Most of all, I love the serenity there.

There is a small playground that the kids played at for a few minutes. We left that section pretty fast though. The beach was calling!

Look at this! It was seriously so gorgeous!

You can't see them, but there were TWO seals swimming out there! I have NEVER seen a seal that was not in captivity.

At one point, both of my children (at separate times) sat at the edge of the water and just looked out into the ocean.

When we got home Jayden told me, "Mom, I love my family. I love our life. We have so much fun, and we have great friends!" Cait and I nodded our heads in agreement.

Science Co-op

For our library science co-op, we continued with the ocean creatures theme. Carolyn hosted this time, and as usual, the kiddies had a lot of fun!

First she put coral, seashells, sand dollars, etc in a bucket and let the children examine them.

Then she had them look at x-rays of shells, etc.

The kids got to paint an underwater scene.

Jayden made himself as a scuba diver. The buttons are his goggles.
The kids also got to go "fishing." Every time they do this, I am always shocked at how enthralled they are. They could seriously spend a good portion of time "fishing."
