Boston Freedom Trail

My youngest sister is here visiting from Florida. (Today is her birthday! Happy birthday N!) She is a history fanatic and wanted to visit the Boston Freedom Trail. We headed over to Boston for an afternoon.

At first, we walked around for 40 minutes, completely lost as to where the trail began. We did see some beautiful statues though!

We bought some balloons for the kids. In hindsight this was a terrible idea. They popped rather quickly which led to tears and kind of a killjoy.
The positioning of Jayden's sword had me cracking up the whole time.

After hitting up the gift shop, we finally found our way!

After walking around for 2.5hours, the kids were done. We headed back to the car but stopped at the wading pool for a chance to cool off.

It was really exciting to see how much history is in Boston!

Water fun

We have had two heat waves so far that have sent us running for water to cool off.

One day we headed to the splash pad.

A few days later we headed off to the beach.

Library activities again!

This was the most recent activity card:

Caitlin used sidewalk chalk to draw me.
Note the bun she drew as my hair. That's pretty much my summer hairdo.
I peeked in to Jayden's class to take a look at what he was doing.
He loves all things Egypt so he thoroughly enjoyed this class.

Then we headed off for ice cream!

Miniature Golf & Karate

We decided to head to a local fun center for some mini golf, go karting, and ice cream. We didn't keep score so I won. ;)

I obviously could not take a picture of us racing but afterward we got ice cream which was amazing!
Karate is going very well. The kids both still love it. They will soon be going for a test where they will get their first belt stripe.

Fourth of July

On the 4th of July we went to the local high school to see some fireworks. There was a festival going on and we had a LOT of fun. We did the limbo, the cha-cha, and the electric slide.

The kids danced non-stop for hours, especially Jayden.

We had cream soda and fried dough.

Finally we sat down and enjoyed a half hour show of fireworks.
