Back to school!

Today everyone felt better so we worked on school again!

We practiced writing 4 & 5 and added 4 arms and 5 noses to the alien.

We reviewed our colors in spanish and counted the number of spanish colors we've learned so far (5)

We practiced the letter Cc

J drew pictures of his "C" words...

Car & Cat

We are working on emotions and how to handle them this week. So far we have happy J & angry J! (This photo was taken by J)

Then we went outside to fill up one of our pumpkin bags with leaves.
J wanted to wear his new hat!

C took more leaves out of the bag than she helped put in!

He looks so cute!

The bag isn't completely full but J started gathering branches and throwing them and C started trying to run out of the front yard so I figured that was enough!

Another sick day!

Another sick day here!

The kiddies took a two hour nap today!

And here is the finished project (Hudson Hat) I have been working on for the last week. It is now washed and currently blocking but before I could do that J wanted to try it on. (My sheets are currently in the wash since J puked on my bed this morning!)  Once it is done drying I will post better pics.J loves it!

Third week of school!

Today is overcast and cold. That means a more than usual tired J. That also means a cranky J. I was going to just skip school today and try tomorrow but he kept asking for it so we gave it a go. Thankfully it was a short day of work because, even though I tried to tell him we could try again tomorrow, he didn't want to hear it! I have no clue where this kid gets his stubborn attitude from ;-)
Spanish color of the week!

C was very much into Jacks Big Music Show

Then she wanted me to take a picture of her new babies
And lastly, my husband and I decided we would try implementing a new form of discipline for J. He has started going through a phase where he thinks money grows on trees so we decided he would have to start earning money through outstanding behavior and good decisions coupons. After a day of outstanding behavior he earns a $1 coupon.
For good decisions he earns 25¢
He will be rewarded with his money after redeeming his coupons every Friday. Each coupon will be given if he is "caught" making good decisions/ behaving. He will not be bribed with it. For example, if he is misbehaving or making bad decisions, I won't remind him of his coupons, nor will I say "You won't get your coupon if you don't ___." His coupons will not be taken away either since it is something he has already earned. We want to teach him that good behavior goes noticed and that he will have to earn "play" money, things won't just be given to him. With his money he can purchase whatever he'd like. He can only earn 1 Good Behavior coupon a day, but he can earn as many Good Decision coupons as he deserves in a day.

Our weekend

We had SUCH a fabulous weekend! But I only have pictures from yesterday. We went apple and pumpkin picking!

Distractions!

Today was a very windy, rainy, chilly day outside. This type of weather usually leads to some tired kidlets who are very into snuggling. But today was different because daddy was home early (due to a stomach virus). That meant distracted kids!

We still managed to get work done but it took longer than usual because J wasn't very focused until the end. At one point we went to his room because the distractions were overwhelming.

We started off with some workbook activities:

Then we switched rooms to work in J's bedroom to concentrate better:

Both he and I were very proud and impressed by how nicely he was able to write the letter Bb with not much practice this week.

We then switched back to our normal classroom section to work on our seasons book. He was very focused during this part because he asked me if we could make a book today. He is always ecstatic when he knows we are making a book.

We cut these pictures out of a magazine that came in the mail today! We cut out outfits for each season, J drew what the trees look like during each season and he gave me some words describing what we do/ wear during that season, as well as his favorite day (if he had one) of the season.

His seasons book suffered a little mishap when he used the hole puncher a little too close to the edge so I let him staple it and the words got a bit cut off. BUT he is extremely proud of his book and loves it! He even used it as reading material in the bathroom today!!

Little Ms. C was not pictured during our lessons today because if she wasn't being a distraction, she was with daddy wreaking havoc in a different part of the house!
