Last weekend Kuda came to visit. She brought lots of goodies, including Cait's outfit and new baby, which she named Michelle.
They went outside and showed her and Nelson how good they are getting at sports.
Even though this week has brought cooler weather, the kids insisted on going out for a water gun fight.
My kids are currently bartering their services in exchange for money. They are each saving up for something that they want. In exchange for $5 a piece, the kids danced to Dance Central songs for Kuda and Nelson. Earlier this week they fixed my bed as a surprise and insisted on charging me: Jayden $2, Caitlin $10. I am QUITE sure Jayden did most of the work but Caitlin was trying to rip me off!
Then my little business minded children received a call from their dad who was at work. He requested some new artwork for his walls. Jayden insisted he had to be paid $2 for his work. Juan tried to barter, starting as low as $1. But Jayden would not budge. His price was firm and in the end he received his asking price. So they set to work making new things for Juan's walls.
In the end there was a ton of cut up paper all over the table and floor. But they earned their money. Jayden has now saved the money he needs to buy a video game he wanted. Caitlin is saving up for the Wii U she says.
Cait decided earlier this week that her dolls needed to swim in the "cachuzzi" sans pants since she didn't want them to get wet.
The kids have a new desk. Juan set the laptop up to be like a desktop for them. Jayden had a lot of fun typing letters back and forth with Hayzel. He also made a list of games he wants. He is having a lot of fun trying different fonts and settings.

Last week we had some gorgeous weather. We took advantage and enjoyed a trip to the park.
We also had some super hot weather and met up with some homeschooling friends at the beach.
In school news, I was given the awesome opportunity to review a Spanish curriculum called R.E.A.L. Homeschool Spanish. We just started it last week and are working our way very slowly through unit one.
We put on a little puppet show with Thundercats Lion-O and Tygra, using the phrases we learned. We are also using the phrases throughout the day.
Look for my full review later this month! :)

Library trip
We were stuck home for the second half of last week. Just before Jayden got conjunctivitis and Caitlin had an unexplained fever, we went to the library.
Caitlin got her very first library card! She proudly announced each letter of her name as she signed the back of her card.
Here is our collective haul.

The books Jayden selected |

Our books for Art History class have arrived! We will be making lapbooks with the FREE World's Greatest Artists curriculum here.
I can not stress enough just how happy Jayden is with his new math curriculum. His happiness means I'm happy. He always wants to start school with math and often wants to do extra pages. How can I not be happy with that? Right now all of his math work is review. That may be why he likes it so much. We'll see if he is still as enthusiastic about it when we learn new concepts.
We are nearly done with our Beginning Geography unit. Jayden completed the landforms and bodies of water portion. In the end he did an activity where he had to match the landforms and bodies of water to their pictures. The landforms he learned about are: mountain, plain, island, volcano, canyon, valley, and desert. The bodies of water he learned about are ocean, river, and lake.
After correctly matching everything he took an end of the chapter test and scored a 96%!
Caitlin is still working through her kindergarten level of Time4Learning. In about 2 weeks our subscription will end.
She also loves the FREE Salsa Spanish episodes. She has learned the words pastel and triste.
