Karate

The class we had Jayden in for karate ended up not working out for us. We found a karate class for homeschooled kids and put both J & C in it. They are thrilled to see some familiar faces there.

There is currently a variety of ages in the class, ranging from 2.5-8yrs old. In the fall the classes will be split up by age. For now the teacher is focusing on strength training, respect, focus, and several karate moves. He expects a little more from the older children, which is great for Jayden.

Caitlin is doing amazing. This is her first time participating in a sport and she works really hard at it!

Most of all both kids are having so much fun. They are excited for class and love participating in it.

Summertime Fun!

Where in the heck have we been? Enjoying the weather, of course!

We have been walking A LOT! We usually head to a trail for a 3mile walk at least twice a week. These kids are all troopers. May and I walk pretty fast compared to their little feet and they do really well.

We were feeling adventurous one day and went on a hike. It was muddy, messy, and a little too close to nature for me. We went through woods, over makeshift bridges, and up and down hills.

In total we did 2.5miles. It sure felt a helluvalot longer than that!

J & C have decided they want to participate in a race this summer. We found one for children and will be signing them up soon!

Nature Walk/Scavenger Hunt

Our last nature walk was a bit of a disappointment since it was such a short trail. We decided to go to a place we went last year. This time May printed out a scavenger hunt for the kids.

We saw all kinds of interesting things.
This little guy paused with two arms up and posed for us!

The kids found everything on their list except for a squirrel. Jayden really enjoyed himself but Caitlin had a fantastic time. She excitedly pointed to everything she found, including animal made holes.

We also saw a dead baby bird.
Altogether we walked 3 miles! The kids KNOCKED out that night and BEGGED to stay home the following day to rest. Successful nature walk: check!

Last week we had our usual biweekly library trip.

We decided to go on a little nature walk afterward.

I am NOT a nature kind of girl. I can appreciate it's beauty, but bugs and wild animals creep me out. I admittedly ran several times when I thought I heard/saw a mouse. All of the kids made fun of me!

End of the School Year Picnic

Earlier this week we had an end of the school year picnic with some of our homeschooling friends. Jayden will technically finish 1st grade when an evaluator comes to check his portfolio, which will be happening mid-June.

Caitlin spent nearly the whole time playing with a little girl there who really impressed her. The little girl knew how to tie her own shoes, which made her cool in Caitlin's book.

Jayden played Star Wars with his friends.

He also played a little bit of soccer with another little boy too.

Last weekend Kuda came to visit. She brought lots of goodies, including Cait's outfit and new baby, which she named Michelle.
They went outside and showed her and Nelson how good they are getting at sports.

Even though this week has brought cooler weather, the kids insisted on going out for a water gun fight.

My kids are currently bartering their services in exchange for money. They are each saving up for something that they want. In exchange for $5 a piece, the kids danced to Dance Central songs for Kuda and Nelson. Earlier this week they fixed my bed as a surprise and insisted on charging me: Jayden $2, Caitlin $10. I am QUITE sure Jayden did most of the work but Caitlin was trying to rip me off!

Then my little business minded children received a call from their dad who was at work. He requested some new artwork for his walls. Jayden insisted he had to be paid $2 for his work. Juan tried to barter, starting as low as $1. But Jayden would not budge. His price was firm and in the end he received his asking price. So they set to work making new things for Juan's walls.
In the end there was a ton of cut up paper all over the table and floor. But they earned their money. Jayden has now saved the money he needs to buy a video game he wanted. Caitlin is saving up for the Wii U she says.

Cait decided earlier this week that her dolls needed to swim in the "cachuzzi" sans pants since she didn't want them to get wet.

The kids have a new desk. Juan set the laptop up to be like a desktop for them. Jayden had a lot of fun typing letters back and forth with Hayzel. He also made a list of games he wants. He is having a lot of fun trying different fonts and settings.
